The purebred dogs listed on the previous page, their off-standard brothers and wolfy-looking mixes of those breeds are often identical in appearance to most low and some mid content wolfdogs.
THERE IS NO WAY OF TELLING THEM APART UNLESS YOU KNOW YOU CAN TRUST YOUR BREEDER.
You may also elect to purchase the UC Davis test online, which can tell you if your animal is really a wolfdog or just a wolfy-looking dog. While this test does not determine how much wolf is present, it can identify if the animal in question is a pure wolf, pure dog or a wolfdog.
It is impossible to tell a lower content wolfdog from a wolfy-type dog through photographs alone.
Note: Claiming a lower or mid content wolfdog as a pure dog is also a form of misrepresentation. Just because YOU can't see the wolf in there doesn't mean it's not present.
Various low-contents (doggiest to wolfiest) and some low/mids (doggiest to wolfiest). Despite proven wolf heritage in these lows and mids, notice how many of them are still virtually indistinguishable from the pure dogs, off standard dogs and wolf-like dog mixes.
Genes express themselves in different ways among each individual. Classifying the doggier-looking individuals as dogs with no wolf content is misrepresentation.
Just because some do not look as wolfy as others doesn't mean they're not all wolfdogs of the same percentage range.
